STATE DELEGATE REPORT FOR WESTERN AUSTRALIA.
The show season is once again in full swing and for those in the City area seem to be on the go every weekend. Our State Show held at Wallangarra on the l8th October, was extremely successful. Numbers were good and everyone seemed to be very happy with the day. We had great trophies, gorgeous ribbons and garlands which were made by Jayne Cruttenden (don’t know how she finds the time to do these things) but they were just beautiful. A huge thank you goes to our major sponsors WesTrac and Saddleworld Maddington, without these we would not have been able to run such an excellent event. Thank you too to our Judges Ms Kylie Bennett who judged the Classic section and Laraine McKenzie from Melbourne who judged the main section of the show. Comments from the judges were that the standard of presentation was extremely high and that the conformation and quality of the horses was even higher, which is great to hear. The weather was kind and not too hot. Had we held the show the day before I think we would all have passed out on the grounds, but fortunately that one had gone and we had a reasonable day. The show ran at a loss of $800 so it shows just how important it is to obtain sponsorship to be able to run these events, even with the sales of the food which was cooked and prepared all day by Tony, our regular sausage cooker. How he does it standing over the barbe from 8.30 in the morning until we all pack up around 3 pm. Well done Tony and a huge thank you from all the hungry clients.
A huge thank you from me to Julie Kitto and Jayne Cruttenden as without their support the show would not have been possible. Such a huge effort to run a show of this standard and to have it all go so smoothly takes maximum effort and this from a few people is a mammoth task. Also to Maureen Sawyer who travels all the way from Albany with me to attend to the judges all day handing out the ribbons and recording all the results. She is not even a mini person, but thank goodness is a hard worker and great helper.
Congratulations go to our winners on the day – Lisa Herve with TMM Destiny Dream Come True, Jayne Cruttenden with Kildaire Silver Chianti, well done to you both for great achievements. To all our champions over the day also congratulations and well done to you all. Thank you to all our competitors as without you all we could not have a show.
We are now well into our breeding season and I do hope you all have some gorgeous babies to skite off and would very much appreciate some pics of them as they arrive.
